Together, We’re Making a Difference
Making a Splash to Kick Off the 2026 School Year
In July, the SSS PTSA will hose our back-to-school pool party for all Second Street School families at the Juniper Hills Aquatic Center. Families were welcomed with pizza, cupcakes, and drinks as we celebrated the start of a new school year together.
Stayed Tuned!
2025 - 2026
During the 2025–2026 school year, the Second Street School PTSA proudly supported students, staff, and families through a variety of programs, events, and community partnerships. We partnered with the school's Character Strong initiative by providing custom recognition keychains for students who demonstrated monthly character traits, purchased a laminator to support classroom instruction, and funded a commercial refrigerator for the FoodPrints classroom and a commercial fan for the gymnasium. We welcomed nearly 400 students and family members to our Back-to-School Pool Party, creating a fun and positive start to the school year. Through our successful Copy That! Paper Drive, we raised enough funds to purchase three pallets of copy paper—providing nearly a year's supply for our teachers and classrooms. We sponsored the Fall Door Decorating Contest, partnered with the BETA Club for Trunk or Treat, and worked alongside Frankfort Lowe's Hometown Heroes to beautify our campus by enhancing the school's entrance and adding outdoor classroom and playground seating. During the holiday season, the PTSA transformed the school with festive hallway decorations, helped provide turkeys and hams to 100 Frankfort Independent Schools families, and offered students the opportunity to attend the Louisville Ballet's The Nutcracker through a schoolwide ticket lottery. Throughout the year, we also celebrated our outstanding staff with appreciation events and treats while continuing to invest in enriching educational experiences, including the Lexington Philharmonic Discovery Concert for fourth graders, the Kentucky Agriculture Mobile Science Center, middle school wellness programming, and a schoolwide Literacy Escape Room. These accomplishments reflect the PTSA's ongoing commitment to strengthening our school community and supporting every student's success.
